Renaissance Project Reflection: 1. English: In English my most memorable part was actually getting to create the letters or poems from my character during the renaissance. We stained them and put a renaissance touch to them. We wrote from a point of view from our character from the 1500s which was an interesting kind of writing that I don’t usually do.
History: What I thought that was most memorable was that my character was a renaissance explorer/navigator in the renaissance. So cause of this I learned a substantial amount about the history in the 1500s and how my character affected life today in a positive way. I also enjoyed how we learned about history and daily life back in the Renaissance period. We learned about culture, customs, architecture, religion within the different empires and dynasties.
Math: The part I enjoyed most in Math was we created board games that were relevant and that was played during the renaissance period. What interested me was seeing some of the different games played back then was transformed to a newer version that was created in recent history. We were able to create our board games from scratch using different materials and learn the concept of the game. The main part of this project in math was to learn the probability and chances behind the game. Art: In art the part I enjoyed most was learning about several different artist that affected the renaissance period in a tremendous way. Some which were Picasso, Vincent Van Gogh, Michelangelo, Raphael and Donatello etc. I learned a lot about the artist I studied which was Shepard Fairly who was a street artist and best know as the owner of obey and the famous Obama artwork. The best part of this was I created something similar to this artist's artwork with my renaissance character which was a creative project.
2.On a scale from 1-10 I would say in my personal opinion this project was a 3 as 10 being the most challenging. I gave rated it like this because I wasn’t always thinking throughout the project and it came kind of easy to finish things. But the challenge was searching for data on our renaissance character and being able to act like their personality or how they would act.
3.What aspect of this project that was most challenging was learning the history part of this project. Because there is so much to go within the Renaissance there was so much that played a role in things other things happening. It was sort of a challenge to remember or keep concentrate learning the history about the Renaissance and background behind it. What would have helped was just rereading over the paper and not get to lost at the end rather then having to revise the information in the future.
4.Yes, I received critique from my peers and I feel like this actually impacted my overall piece in a tremendous way. My peers helped me with ideas and things to change rather than restarting or writing more they gave me the idea of combining paragraphs. This helped so I didn’t have ten paragraph, I instead had five solid different journal entries.
5.I feel very proud with my piece I feel like my effort and quality of work was at a pretty high level. By putting a lot of work and thought into my work I feel like it showed with the actual writing and also the overall aesthetics of the piece. There is definitely improvements I could include with my piece by critiquing and reviewing it even more I could find area to change. But overall it was publish worthy and it made me think and be creative with it.
6.Thinking about exhibition I feel like I did pretty good I definitely embraced my characters style (costume) and was interactive with the guest. But I definitely wish people came around to our booth more so I could explain my work and our project, but people hesitant. Yes, by really trying to be in character with costume and knowing a lot about the background of your renaissance person it made it engaging and interesting. Also with the props we had on displace made an impact as well such as the things we included which were stained paper, decor, and maps/papers.
7.If I could change something about this project I would say I wish we could have created more artifacts and such things to make the overall exhibition full. Because during extinction we were really sharing are knowledge but didn’t have much artifacts to back it up. Also giving guest questions to ask us, so we could be challenged and be thinking on the spot.
8.Yes, I guess I feel confident about understanding the lasting impact of the Renaissance because it was such an important time period in history. Many things were created and improved. Also there were a numerous amount of discoveries during this period. Such things like art and culture were a lasting thing that is looked upon in today's society. Overall it’s important to know how things have come to be and who helped in those discovers or creations.
9.I believe I deserve an A+ in the Renaissance Project. I believe throughout this project I was able to flourish and utilize my skills such as collaboration, time management, critiquing skills, effort, publish worthy work, organization and communication. Though this project I managed my time very wisely making sure I used the open work time I had and put it towards my assignments and final product, but I also made sure they were publish worthy and understandable. By doing this I was able to complete all my assigned assignments in a descriptive and complete way. I used my critiquing and communication skills in terms of when we received and gave feedback to our peers with our writing pieces, artwork, and costumes. Without organization I wouldn’t be successful because of my organization skills I was able to prioritize my work and make sure I completed it by the deadlines and benchmarks. I was able to succeed from this and was able to make sure my work was neat, in order and organized. Another skill was collaboration I used this during exhibition prep and setting up and by doing this are group had everything displayed correctly and work completed and showed. I put a good amount of effort and thought into my work, but I could have pushed myself a little more in somethings. Overall I was able to complete every deadline in a publish worth way, as well as help my peers with their work.
